Hot Producers Week 36 2026 - Conductor Williams

Conductor Williams

Conductor Williams, born Denzel Williams, is a Grammy Award-winning American producer hailing from Kansas City, Missouri. He has a very unique style and sound which has catapulted him as a producer most of the hip hop and R&B industry want to work with due to his unique sound.

If you have ever heard "Conductor, we have a problem!" or "Conductor, Conductor, Conductor", "Conductor" then you already know what time it is.

He is best known for his extensive work as an in-house producer for the hip-hop collective Griselda Records, but his soulful, loop-heavy sound has attracted some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Williams' career completely shifted when Westside Gunn, the founder of Griselda Records, stumbled upon an Instagram video of Williams demoing beats.

Gunn loved the symphonic, soul-infused sound so much that he DM'ed Williams, asking him to take down the video because he wanted to buy the beat. That track became "Michael Irvin" from Gunn's 2020 project Flygod Is an Awesome God II.

Williams quickly became a core architect of Griselda's aesthetic, heavily producing for Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, Mach-Hommy, Rome Streetz, and Boldy James.

Conductor Williams is highly talented, he just came into the game with his own sound from cold samples but that instantly recognisable distorted sound. I would say it's Kanye level sampling but with his own icing sprinkled on top, the distorted type sound design which makes him 1 of 1.

When I hear his producer tag drop, I just know I'm in for some good hearing.

Fun Fact: Before his breakthrough in the music industry, Williams spent nearly 20 years working as an actual railway conductor and engineer. He worked grueling 12-hour shifts but made music constantly in his downtime. Though he had been producing since the mid-2000s, he hit hard times and chose to completely reinvent his musical approach around 2016. Eventually, he made the difficult decision to walk away from his stable, high-paying union rail job to pursue beatmaking full-time.
